Why he subscribed

He was making a series of large decisions in a compressed period and wanted a second frame of reference that was not his own anxiety.

What he says it does

Not prediction. He is clear about that. What he describes is a daily reminder that the day has a character — that some days are for signing and some for waiting, and that this was decided before he woke up.

The value is not that it is always right. The value is that it stops me treating every day as interchangeable. I make fewer decisions on a bad day now, and that alone has been worth the subscription.

The monthly chart

He uses the month-ahead chart as a planning tool — scheduling difficult conversations in the weeks the chart holds, and holding big commitments outside them. He describes the practice as unglamorous and effective.
