The founder who was built to advise, not to carry
Second burnout in three years. The chart said the structure, not the workload, was the problem.
Two companies, two burnouts, identical shape both times. He had concluded he was simply not cut out for founding.
What the chart showed
A weak Day Master with strong support stars — the classical signature of someone who performs at an extremely high level inside a good structure, and collapses outside one. Not a deficiency. A design.
Both companies had made the same mistake: he had remained the sole decision-maker and the sole carrier of risk far longer than his chart could absorb.
What we advised
Not “stop founding”. We advised that the third attempt be structured with a genuine operating partner from day one — someone to carry, so that he could direct. His chart has an unusually strong Officer star, which in classical terms indicates someone who performs best inside a clear hierarchy or an explicit partnership.
Result
Third company, two years in, with a co-founder. No burnout. He describes it as the first time the work has not felt like swimming.
