Competent, respected, permanently tired. The chart put him in an industry his Useful God could not supply.

What the chart showed
A Water Day Master, weak, with an excess of Earth. Earth controls Water. His Useful God was Metal — the element that generates Water — and his entire career had been spent in an Earth industry: construction, logistics, heavy assets.
His chart did not say he could not do the work. It said the work would never generate energy for him. Twelve years of competence with no accumulation of vitality.
What we advised
We did not tell him to resign. We identified the Metal industries adjacent to his existing expertise — precision manufacturing, instrumentation, data infrastructure — and suggested a lateral move rather than a reset.
What happened
He moved to an instrumentation firm eleven months later, at roughly the same salary. His own measure of success: “I stopped dreading Mondays. I did not expect that to be a chart thing.”
