What BaZi says about wealth

In BaZi there is no single “money star”. There are three moving parts, and they behave differently — which is why two people with the same salary can end up in opposite financial lives.

The Wealth Star — Cai Xing

Your Wealth Star is the element your Day Master controls. A Metal day master controls Wood, so for that person Wood is wealth; for an Earth day master, Water is wealth. Whether that star is strong, weak, exposed or buried in the chart tells us how naturally money arrives — and by which route.

A strong, well-placed Wealth Star usually means the person can hold capital. A weak or clashed one usually means money moves through the hands, and the work is to build systems rather than rely on instinct.

Direct wealth and indirect wealth

Classical texts separate Cai Xing (直接之财 — direct wealth: salary, fees, contracted income) from Pian Cai (偏财 — indirect wealth: windfalls, investments, side ventures). Charts tend to favour one. People who fight their own chart — chasing speculation with a salary-built chart, or grinding at a desk with a windfall-built one — are the people who describe themselves as “unlucky with money”. They are not unlucky. They are reading the wrong line.

The Wealth Palace and the decade

Your chart also moves. Every ten years the luck pillar changes, and with it the balance of the chart. A Wealth Palace that was silent for a decade can switch on decisively when a favourable pillar arrives — which is why the most useful question is never “will I be rich?” but “when is my chart open?”

Earning is one element. Keeping is another.

This is the part most readings skip. The element that generates income is rarely the element that stores it. The chart shows the gap between the two, and that gap is where most money is lost.
